I suppose you have to know that there’s a return station near where you’re going? I mean you couldn’t ride it e.g. out to Stanmore if you’re not coming back later. How does it work?
They are available across the West End mostly. The idea is use them for short hops. So half hour use is free. One hour is a £1. There is a map on stand that shows you where to return them to and you plan. However, sometimes the stands are full and then you have to find another but there are loads and very close to each other. Or a stand might be empty when you go to get one. During the day a lorry drives about moving them from full stands to empty stands just to balance things out. Cheaper than a taxi nicer than the tube.
Some roads in London are awful but mostly there are back routes and it’s surprising how little traffic there actually is. It’s actually a really good cycling experience.
Love these bikes!! Daddy Lloyd has spent many a wasted hours looking at the numbers on those bikes, he is looking for numbers lower than 80 that it the lowest that has been seen in his project!!
Love it! Visions of Copenhagen in my favourite city!
I wish this was the vision in more cities.
Great advertising there! Expect they are all taken up on Monday mornings!
Clever old the bak but still every one calls them Boris bikes rather than the bank bikes!
oooh, did you have fun ?
I did!

I think it is extremely brave cycling in London! Hats off to you.

I agree with Mum of One. Uttering terrifying to cycle in London. It’s a great idea though isn’t it? Do you do it often?
I’d rather cycle in London than tube it. I try to do it as often as I can.
Looks like a toned down Amsterdam
Amsterdam is much nicer!
I’ve always wanted a go on one of them!
You should. They are great bikes, really sturdy and the system is really easy to use.
Ooh interesting
Ooh that;s a sight to behold. They were all empty last time I was up there! Hope you enjoyed your lunch X
I had a good couple of days in London – thank you.
the future!
I hope so.
Scary, I’m not sure I can even remember how to ride a bike.
You never forget
Such an amazing view, not something we would see where we live, far too organised!
I think every city/town should have them… if it can work in London surely it could work anywhere?
London just as Boris would like us to see it! Cracking shot
Wow, perfect angle! Brilliant
thank you.
Monument, for Bank?
Northumberland Avenue.

I think I might start looking now!
Great picture. Would love to give them a whirl sometime.
I can recommend.
Did you actually ride one? Everyone seems to think you did – I suspect , like me you grabbed a photo and got on the bus!!
I have. I am a fan.
I would just love to paint one red!
Brilliant idea.
ohh look at all them bikes – great photo!
I guess the cold weather might have put people off using them. Hence a full rack!
Aw London! Fab pic!
